Meet the Team

Ian Gordon BDS Newcastle 1984 MFGDP 2002

GDC No. 58968

Ian Gordon was born in Stokesley “several decades ago” moving only  when he gained a place  at Newcastle Dental School from where he qualified in 1984.

Ian returned to North Yorkshire to work in Guisborough and then Acklam before starting his own practice , The Dental Centre, in Eaglescliffe in 1989.

Ian expanded that NHS practice group to include practices in Middlesbrough, Martonside and Guisborough before leaving to establish Vitality with his wife Jayne in 2008.

Ian has been involved in Dental Politics and Vocational Training throughout his 30 year career – he is currently Chair of the North Yorkshire Local Dental Committee and was previously Chair of the Tees LDC.  Ian retains a clinical commitment on Tuesdays and Thursdays providing a wide range of dental treatment – he still particularly enjoys Endodontic treatment and provides the Invisalign ( clear braces) treatment at the practice.

Developing Vitality has been challenging but very rewarding and has resulted in the established 3 surgery practice we see today which offers routine care as well as advanced care from visiting implant dentists.

Ian has been delighted that Alpha partners Guy and Ben have joined him at Vitality sharing the clinical treatment and therefore allowing Ian time  to work 2 days a week as an adviser  for Dental Protection who provide indemnity and advice for dentists worldwide.

In his “spare” time Ian is a senior partner in Alpha Dental Group which Ian established with 4 other partners in 2008 and now operates 12 practices from York to Chester Le Street.

Outside of work Ian lives in Osmotherley with his wife Jayne and son Jake – he has 2 older children, Christine is a dentist in London ( who cannot be persuaded to move “up North” and John is a chef at The Tontine.

Leisure time includes a lot of time watching and supporting Jake in his various sporting interests particularly with the very successful Stokesley U16 football team  – completing the Munros is still a very part completed challenge which might happen one day!
